MARK Waugh and Darryl Brohman will be guest speakers at a combined sportsmen's dinner hosted by the Jamberoo Cricket Club and Jamberoo Rugby League Football Club at Jamberoo Bowling Club on Saturday.

This promises to be a really entertaining night with Waugh and Brohman having plenty of experiences to recall in their respective careers in cricket and rugby league.

Tickets are selling fast, however there is still space for anyone who wishes to attend. They will be made most welcome with characteristic Jamberoo hospitality.

Tickets are $50 per person, which includes table wine and a two-course dinner.

A raffle and auction of signed memorabilia will feature on the night. All proceeds will go to the junior sports teams of both clubs.

Bookings can be made by telephone - cricket club 4236 0441 or football club 4236 0685.

Meantime, with leather upon willow just around the corner, Jamberoo Cricket Club is looking forward to the coming season with an injection of enthusiasm and a new approach to training.

Keith Meadows, a lifetime member of Sutherland Cricket Club, has come on board as the club coach and is undertaking level two accreditation.

Jamberoo Cricket Club president Mark Robinson said a number of training sessions covering conditioning, aqua aerobics and core strength exercises have been enthusiastically received by the players.

Most pleasing has been the competitive nature of these workouts, which have attracted some of the clubs most promising juniors.

Junior cricket registration will take place between 11am and 1 pm on Saturdays August 26 and September 2 at Kevin Walsh Oval.

A trial game for the Jamberoo senior players is set down for Saturday, September 9, at Kevin Walsh Oval against Sutherland under the coaching of former Australian wicketkeeper and international coach Steve Rixon.

All intending junior and senior players are most welcome. Club secretary Stuart Richards can be contacted by telephone, 4236 0441 or by email: sri23044@bigpond.net.au
