Members of the public are invited to a week-long international festival which will include a blend of free performances, displays, guest speakers, games, activities, movies and food at the University of Wollongong.
Highlights will include:* Today: A Chinese cultural festival on the duck pond lawn, including Tibetan dancing, traditional instrument playing, Chinese calligraphy, herbal tea tasting and handicraft.* Engineers Without Borders will show how technology can help alleviate hardship by sanitising water at an affordable cost and using local materials with a low impact on the environment.* International karaoke at the UniBar and Dr Mary Zournazi from the Faculty of Arts will promote her new book Keywords to War.* Tomorrow: The Wollongong Symphony Orchestra will perform on the duck pond lawn.* A "global highway" of stalls across campus will represent a range of countries.* Thursday: Clubs and societies will be on display at the duck pond lawn as well as a Japanese Matusri festival including food, games and performances.* Women of the world will share their stories about being lured from their home countries to Australia.* Friday: Health symposium, a picnic day, international food and games, and performance by funk band Invisible Friends. * www.uow.edu.au/about/internationalweek/2007/index.htm
